Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does the Hilitand MX-K2 Morse Code Keyer work with all CW transceivers?
A: The MX-K2 is designed as a universal CW keyer controller compatible with most standard amateur radio transceivers and radio amplifiers that support CW operation. Always check your transceiver's keyer input specifications before connecting.
Q: Do the stored messages survive a battery change or power loss?
A: Messages stored in the F1 memory key are protected by the power-off protection function, meaning they remain saved even after the battery is removed or drained. F2 messages, however, are not power-off protected and will be lost when power is disconnected.
Q: How do I adjust the CW sending speed on the MXK2 keyer?
A: Speed is controlled via the R3 potentiometer on the unit. Rotating R3 to a lower value increases the sending speed, while a higher value slows it down, giving you precise control to match your operating comfort level.
Q: Can I use this Morse code keyer for beacon or contest transmissions?
A: Yes! The repeat play mode (activated via "C" or "E" commands in command mode) allows the keyer to automatically replay stored messages — up to 255 times under the "E" command — making it well-suited for beacon duty or contest exchange automation.
