Step back in time with the mesmerizing warm glow of genuine IN-12 nixie tubes. This 4-digit glow tube desk clock is the perfect centrepiece for any home office, gaming setup, or collector's shelf — blending vintage Soviet-era tube technology with modern reliability. Whether you're treating yourself or looking for a truly unique gift, this clock delivers unmatched character and atmosphere.

Key Features

  • Genuine IN-12 Nixie Tubes: Each digit is displayed by an authentic glow tube, producing that iconic warm orange numeral glow that LEDs simply can't replicate.
  • Antique / Retro Aesthetic: Acrylic base with exposed tube design — a statement piece that complements any desktop or bookshelf.
  • Anti-Poisoning Rotation: Built-in interval cycling (recommended every 5–20 minutes) helps extend tube lifespan and keeps digits looking crisp.
  • Adjustable Brightness: Control the intensity of the glow to suit your environment — ideal as subtle ambient lighting by night.
  • RTC Battery Backup (CR1220): An included CR1220 coin cell retains the time setting even when the main power is disconnected, so you never have to reset the clock.
  • DC 5V Input: Powered via standard 5V DC — convenient and compatible with most USB power adapters (adapter may be sold separately).

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does the IN-12 Nixie Glow Tube Clock need to stay plugged in all the time?

A: Yes — the clock requires a continuous DC 5V power supply to display the time. The included CR1220 coin cell battery powers only the real-time clock (RTC) chip, which retains the correct time even when the main power is disconnected, so you won't need to reset it every time you plug it back in.

Q: How do I extend the lifespan of the nixie glow tubes?

A: Enable the built-in anti-poisoning interval rotation (we recommend a cycle every 5–20 minutes). You can also manually clear the display occasionally, use a stable and reliable power supply, and avoid running the tubes at maximum brightness for prolonged periods. These simple steps can significantly extend the life of your IN-12 tubes.

Q: What power supply does the clock use?

A: The clock runs on DC 5V external power. This is a standard voltage compatible with many USB-type adapters. Please ensure your power supply is stable and of good quality for best performance.

Q: Is this a good desktop gift item?

A: Absolutely. The 4-digit IN-12 nixie glow tube clock arrives in gift-ready packaging and is a unique, eye-catching desk accessory. Its retro antique style makes it a standout present for collectors, tech lovers, and anyone who loves distinctive ambient lighting on their desk.
