Key Features

  • Large Memory Capacity: F1 key stores up to 60 words with power-off data protection; F2 key stores up to 50 words for rapid session use.
  • Segmented Storage: Divide messages into multiple segments using EOM (End of Message) markers, then recall individual segments by pressing the memory key the corresponding number of times.
  • Command Mode: Press F1 + F2 simultaneously to enter Command Mode for advanced playback and configuration options, including repeat play up to 255 cycles.
  • Simple 2-Button + 1-Switch Design: Intuitive controls minimize setup time so you can focus on operating.
  • Adjustable Speed: R3 speed control dial lets you set your preferred sending rate — turn down for faster transmission.
  • Buzzer Mute (J1): Silence the sidetone when needed for quiet environments.
  • L/R Paddle Orientation: Switch between di/da or da/di to match your keying style.
  • Battery-Efficient Design: Runs on 2 × AAA batteries (not included); power-off protection keeps stored data safe when batteries are changed.
  • Wide Voltage Compatibility: 110–240V, suitable for global use.
  • Aluminium Alloy Body: Sturdy, lightweight construction for home shack or portable field use.

How to Use

  1. Record a Message: Press and hold F1 or F2 for more than half a second until you hear "M" — the keyer is now recording CW automatically. When finished, press F1 or F2 again; you will hear "S" to confirm saving. If storage is exceeded, you will hear "F" and the extra portion will not be saved.
  2. Play a Segment: Press the memory key once for the first segment, twice for the second, three times for the third, and so on.
  3. Enter Command Mode: Press F1 and F2 simultaneously — you will hear "C". Use Morse input to enter commands (e.g., "A" to disable long/short voice memory, "B" to enable it, "C"/"E" for repeat play, "D" to exit command mode, "T" for 30-second transfer).
  4. Adjust Speed: Turn the R3 dial; lower values increase sending speed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the Hilitand MX-K2 Morse Code Keyer used for?

A: The Hilitand MX-K2 is an auto memory key controller designed for amateur radio (ham radio) CW operation. It allows operators to store Morse code messages, play them back automatically, and control transmission speed — making it ideal for both practice and on-air use with a compatible transceiver or radio amplifier.

Q: Does the MX-K2 Morse Code Keyer come with batteries?

A: No, the MX-K2 requires 2 × AAA batteries which are not included in the package. The unit features a power-off data protection function on the F1 memory key, so your stored messages remain safe when you replace batteries.

Q: Can I store multiple messages and play specific segments?

A: Yes. The MX-K2 supports segmented storage via EOM (End of Message) markers. You can divide a long message into multiple parts and recall any specific segment by pressing the memory key the corresponding number of times (e.g., press twice for segment 2, three times for segment 3).

Q: How do I adjust the CW sending speed on the MX-K2?

A: Use the R3 speed control dial on the keyer. Turning the dial to a lower value increases the sending speed, giving you full control over your preferred transmission rate.
